When I first heard the term, “birther” it made an impact on me. I wasn’t sure of what it meant, but it was said in a derogatory manner, so I hoped I wasn’t one. Having given birth four times – I was almost assured that I was. I had heard the term “breeder” for those of us who aspired to have more than our alloted 2.1 children, (yes, the percentage has changed) and was on the verge of believing that another term had been assigned to those of us who love large families by people who hate carbon footprints.
Well, here is the definition, for those of you who are not familiar with the term:
Birther: “A person who believes that Barack Obama has controversy and or fraud surrounding his birth, though all theories have been rejected or proven false.”
I already have a problem with the website that posted this definition for its statement that “ALL theories have been rejected or proven false”. If all theories are proven false, “rejected” is the next logical conclusion – even synonymous; therefore, unnecessarily included.
To state that all have been rejected or proven false is to say that some were rejected that were not proven false and people just chose not to accept them. Hmmm… No one wants to accept ugly truth. Remember Watergate?
Loathe to be a birther, they were apparently nutsy, I avoided outrageous posts and conversations until I stumbled upon an article. Here is a synopsis of its details:
Sarah Obama, grandmother of Barack Hussein Obama III, during a telephone interview that took place while the family was celebrating his rise to success in the political realm, stated plainly – twice – that she was present during his birth in Kenya. This statement was made publicly in front of security police, friends, and family in the room. It was translated into English for the interviewer by Kweli Shuhubia.
She later retracted her statement – saying he was born in Hawaii.
Since this caused confusion the investigator personally went to the hospital in Mombassa, Kenya and spoke to both the Provincial Civil Registrar and the Principal Registrar who stated:
• There were indeed records of Ann Dunham giving birth to Barack Hussein Obama III in Mombassa, Kenya on Aug 4, 1961.
• The file was classified and his birth top-secret – so further information was only attainable from the Attorney Generals Office and that he would also have to speak to the Minister in charge of Immigration.
All efforts to proceed further have been met with unyielding authorities who refuse cooperation.
I read another interesting article that contained detail validating certain claims and am posting the link for your own perusal. It seems there are particular records unavailable to the American public: his university transcripts, baptism record, parents’ marriage certificate, their divorce record, his medical records…. As for the picture of the birth certificate – its validity is up to you.
Sarah made two statements. Both statements cannot be true. We must each make up our own minds as to which one we believe, and why. Personally, I doubt that she was mistaken about being present for his birth. Women don’t make mistakes like that. The grandparents and great-grandparents of my children all know where they were born. They all know whether or not they were present, as well. I think we can all agree that a birth is a rather memorable experience and the joy and happiness it brings makes it a rather lasting impression on those involved.
I am also able to understand the heart of a woman that doesn’t want to see her grandson’s political aspirations dashed to the rocks by her own statements – made during the interview. It would be easy to reconcile changing the statement ‘for the greater good of mankind’ and equally rewarding to see one’s grandson as President of the United States of America.
I find all of these details curious, and regardless of the loathing I have at possibly being disrespected, I may just be one of the birthers people talk about while raising their eyebrows and rolling their eyes.

Excellent post. Right now it seems that people, even conservative people, are falling all over themselves to declare that they are NOT birthers. There’s a whole lot that remains unexplained or uncorroborated about this guy.
The Constitution matters. Without it, we are powerless.
Isn’t if funny that people raise their hand to God Almighty to uphold and defend the constitution and then trample all over it?
I guess my point is this. Even if he was born in Kenya, he would still be president. The government is full constituional violations. Why would this be any different?
